John was responsible for the launch of the Sky News service in the UK, Europe, Africa and Asia. He has since gone on to lead the development of more than 30 news, sport, documentary and entertainment brands through media culture change initiatives for clients across the world.

Beginning his career in journalism and television programming, production and promotion, John held senior positions in television and media businesses spanning the globe, for more than 25 years. These include

Managing Director of Sky News based in London; 
Director of International Development at British Sky Broadcasting for Europe, The Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australasia; Executive Vice President of STAR TV Networks for China, India and South East Asia; Managing Director of the National Geographic Channels in Europe and Australia; Executive Vice President of the Fox International Channels. He was previously Director of News and of Programming and Promotion at Network TEN in Australia.

As an independent consultant John has since maintained long running associations with the world’s largest media companies including; Asia’s leading news and factual broadcaster NDTV in India where he was also Director Strategy; 
chellomedia in Europe where he advises on strategy and the reorganisation of a number of Liberty’s channel brands including sports interests in Europe; MBC and Al Arabiya in the Middle East where he advised on strategy, the launch and operations of a number of the Middle East's most successful channel brands; Setanta Sports with Virgin Media and ITN in the UK; the North American Sports Network, now part of ESPN; Kingdom Holdings in the Middle East; Sport Five based in Switzerland, as well as the Interax digital technology solutions company. 

He also advises one of the world’s leading sports rights and content companies based in London and Los Angeles.  

Using his experience for further academic rigour, John successfully completed higher level organisational culture change and media scenario building studies at Green Templeton College, University of Oxford, which is now part of Said Business School and at the HEC in Paris. 

He then founded the iO Media Group Llp and .tv Asia Ltd to help move the “analogue thinking” and practices of old media into a brave, new digital age, requiring a new approach to culture change and media organisation within cutting edge technology and content.

John was presented with the Royal Television Society Award for services to British journalism. He is a member of both the Oxford and HEC Business Alumni and a member of the Art Directors Club of New York.
